Temperature is the most important condition for a long storage life for seafood. So always keep them in the fridge and make sure they don't spend hours in a hot car before you get home from the shops, for example. To avoid that, take a cool box or cool bag with you. 

Premier shellfish are mostly vacuum-packed. This ensures that the shells stay nicely closed and retain their moisture, so extending their storage life. The packaging shows the 'best before' date for the shellfish.
